I have been going to Zion National Park for years now and only just found out about this hike. Located just outside of the visitor center, this is a pleasant hike to kick off an adventure within the park.
Getting to the trail.
After entering the park, the road to the visitor center is on your right. Head towards the visitor center like you would any other time. After you cross the bridge you will see a dirt parking lot to your left. Park here. Once you are ready, head down the road you pulled in on in order to get to parking lot. (in other words, head up canyon on the road) The trail head is located on the right side of the road. If you run into employee housing you went to far.
The trail is moderately steep and takes you about 500 feet above the canyon floor. Along the way you have some pleasant views, but overall the best part of the hike is at the end.
The total distance of the hike is 2 miles and takes about an hour or two depending on your speed.
